A Neon environment inspired by the Hong Kong location films of Wong Kar Wai

This series of Neon sculptures was created in conversation with Viridian’s design concept from Soon and Soon Studio. The design brief was to work from the color drenched Neon shots of Hong Kong, as captured by Wong Kar Wai in some of the owners’ favorite films: Days of Being Wild, Hong Kong Nights, etc. The Neon sculpture inspiration evolved from imagining what the view might look like from a very special club high up in a Hong Kong tower building, overlooking the tremendously influential Neon landscape of one of the world's greatest cities.

The series of sculptures for Viridian is an abstraction of that Hong Kong tower building view. The piece at the center of the bar represents a “'window" which has been opened to invite colorful threads of electric city energy to drift in and illuminate the interior.

Each Neon shape has it’s own logic and sense of relationship to the other Neon shapes, the interaction of which are best appreciated over a Golden Triangle.
